The mouse is fertile. When mating with mice expressing Cre recombinase, the expression of channelrhodopsin-2 (H134R) derived from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and its fused enhanced yellow fluorescent protein can be initiated. The strain is designed to produce greater fixed photocurrent.
Bacterial opsin is a retinal binding protein that binds photosensitive domains and ion channels or pumps. It provides light dependent ion transport, membrane potential change and sensory function for bacteria. This ChR2(H134R) acts as a blue light driven cation channel, depolarizing cells and causing action potentials. Irradiation of cells expressing ChR2(H134R) with blue light (450-490 nm) resulted in rapid and reversible stimulation of action potential discharge activity in these cells.
At present, Creative BioMart has developed a variety of mouse strains expressing Channelrhodopsin, halorhodopsin and Archaerhodopsin respectively, which facilities the application of optogenetic. We have complete animal maintenance facilities to ensure animal health and animal welfare.
